Top 10 Safest Cars In India For 2024 Based On Global NCAP Ratings
According to a report from the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, out of every 1,00,000. 9.5 people died due to road accidents in 2022. In light of this, prioritising vehicles with robust safety features becomes crucial. This article highlights the top 10 safest cars in India, based on Global NCAP safety ratings.
The Global NCAP (New Car Assessment Programme) evaluates vehicles by conducting crash tests. These tests assess both adult and child occupant protection. The cars are ranked according to their adult occupant protection scores, with some evaluated under a new protocol where the maximum score for Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) is 34 points.

Tata Motors
The Tata Harrier, introduced in 2019, stands out as the safest car. It boasts six airbags, a driver knee airbag in top variants, ISOFIX child seat mounts, Electronic Stability Program (ESP), and a panic brake alert. Similarly, the Tata Safari (2023) offers six airbags, ESP, traction control, ISOFIX mounts, and hill-hold assist among its safety features.

The Tata Nexon made history in 2018 as the first model to achieve five stars. It includes six airbags, a blind view monitor, tyre pressure monitor, parking sensors, 360-degree cameras, and Electronic Stability Control.Despite being budget models, the Tata Punch and Tata Altroz also score 5-Star safety ratings with plenty of safety features, including multiple airbags, ABS, ISOFIX points, seat belt warning, child locks and many more.

Volkswagen & Skoda's
The Volkswagen Virtus (2022) sets high safety standards with six airbags, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), park distance control, and more. Meanwhile, the Skoda Slavia (2021) ensures safety with six airbags, multi-collision braking systems, ABS, Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), and ESC.
The Skoda Kushaq (2021) focuses on safety with features like six airbags, rollover protection, Hill-hold assist, traction control among others. The Volkswagen Taigun (2021) offers advanced safety features including six airbags and ISOFIX child safety mounts.

Mahindra
The Mahindra Scorpio-N (2022) excels in safety with dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, TPMS and ISOFIX child seat mounts. The Mahindra XUV 700 (2021) also makes the list with seven airbags and collision warning systems.

Maruti Suzuki
New-gen Maruti Suzuki Dzire received a five-star rating for adult occupant safety and four stars for child occupant safety. It is equipped with six airbags and electronic stability control. This makes the new Dzire the first model from the automaker to achieve this safety standard.
