Tata Tiago EV Prices Now Start At Just Rs 7.99 Lakh – Receives Massive Price Cut
Owning an electric hatchback has now become a lot easier as Tata Motors decided to slash prices for the Tata Tiago EV electric hatchback. This move is expected to not only bring joy to prospective EV buyers but also boost EV sales.
The latest price cut from Tata Motors appears to be a response to the decreasing cost of battery cells. This means, Tata Motors has decided to pass on the savings directly to its customers via price cut.
Post the price cut, the entry-level XE MR variant of the Tiago EV saw a substantial decrease in its price tag, now costing Rs 70,000 less than before. This brings the starting price of the Tiago EV down to an attractive Rs 7.99 lakh (ex-showroom).
Other models in the lineup, including the top-spec XZ+ Tech Lux LR equipped with a 7.2kW charger, have also enjoyed a reduction, albeit a more modest Rs 20,000 cut. This price adjustment makes all variants of Tiago EV even more tempting option for those looking to make the switch.
The Tiago EV doesn't just boast a more attractive price point; it also offers impressive performance. For those opting for the MR variant with a 19.2kWh battery pack, you can expect a decent MIDC range of 250km and a motor output of 61hp and 110Nm.
On the other end, the LR variants of the Tiago EV powered by a 24kWh battery, promise a more robust 315km on a single charge. Furthermore, these models feature a more potent 75hp, 114Nm motor.
Despite the price drop, the Tiago EV will face stiff competition, notably from the MG Comet EV, currently the most budget-friendly electric vehicle in the Indian market. However, the Tiago EV manages to hold its own, thanks to its blend of practicality and performance.
It is also worth mentioning that the Month on month, the Tiago EV consistently edges out the MG Comet EV in sales, indicating a clear preference among Indian consumers for Tata's offering.
