Tata Technologies And Arm Join Forces To Innovate Software-Defined Vehicles
Tata Technologies, a global leader in engineering and product development digital services, has announced a strategic partnership with Arm. This collaboration aims to drive innovation in software-defined vehicles (SDVs). By combining Tata Technologies' automotive expertise with Arm's high-performance, power-efficient technologies, the partnership seeks to reduce SDV development time for automotive OEMs.
The automotive industry is shifting towards SDVs due to the rising demand for connected, autonomous, and electric vehicles. The evolution of SDVs requires advanced software that integrates seamlessly with hardware to improve functionality, safety, and user experiences.

As part of this partnership, Tata Technologies will develop a SOAFEE reference architecture stack using Arm's AE portfolio and Compute Subsystems (CSS) for Automotive. This includes enabling a cloud-native development framework that integrates various DevSecOps and virtual platform solutions to accelerate SDV development.
Focus on Cloud-Native Solutions
This collaboration builds on the momentum from CES 2024 and Mobile World Congress 2024. At these events, Tata Technologies and Arm showcased a cloud-native reference software architecture for SDVs on Arm SoCs. These solutions were also presented at Embedded World 2024 on the newly launched Arm Cortex-A720AE in a virtualised environment. This demonstrated a shift-left strategy for safety-critical vehicle software running on heterogeneous computing systems.
Warren Harris, CEO & Managing Director of Tata Technologies, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration: "We are excited about this collaboration with Arm, which underscores Tata Technologies' commitment to engineering a better world by enabling the automotive industry to realise connected, autonomous and sustainable products that deliver great customer experience."
Enhancing Vehicle Electronics
Dipti Vachani, senior vice president and general manager of Automotive Line of Business at Arm, commented: "Vehicle electronics are becoming increasingly complex with the need for more AI and software to improve user experiences and advance autonomy.
This partnership combines the high-performance, power-efficient and functional safety leadership of the Arm AE technology platform and the time-to-market advantages of our CSS for Automotive with the automotive software expertise from Tata Technologies to empower our mutual customers to accelerate the development of AI-enabled vehicles."
The collaboration signals a promising future in developing cloud-native solutions for next-gen vehicles. With 25 years of expertise in product engineering and digital services, Tata Technologies is well-positioned to meet SDV needs. This will enable rapid prototyping, testing, and deployment of SDV technologies, unlocking new opportunities for developers and accelerating time-to-market for leading OEMs.
This strategic partnership between Tata Technologies and Arm aims to revolutionise how SDVs are developed by integrating cutting-edge technologies with deep automotive knowledge. The focus on cloud-native solutions promises faster development cycles and enhanced vehicle functionalities.
