Tata Sierra Launch Timeline Revealed - Electric To Arrive First
Tata Motors is all set to launch the reborn Sierra SUV in India. Details of the Tata Sierra's launch have been revealed by a new report which states that the SUV will first arrive in EV guise.
The electric Tata Sierra will be launched in India in the second half of 2025 as part of Tata's push to bring 10 EVs to the Indian car market by the end of the calendar year.

The all-electric Sierra will be followed a little while later by the ICE version of the SUV similar to how Tata Motors handled the launch of the Currv SUV coupe this year. And while the EV's powertrain options are still not known, details about the ICE Sierra's drivetrain
The Tata Sierra ICE will feature the same 167bhp 2.0-litre turbo diesel engine that powers the Harrier and Safari SUVs. The engine will come paired with the 6-speed manual and automatic gearbox options.

In addition to the diesel engine option, the Sierra is also expected to be offered with a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine that too is expected to be offered with 6-speed manual and automatic gearbox options. Both ICE options and the EV are expected to be offered in both two-wheel and all-wheel drive options.
With regards to the design, the Sierra is expected to carry forward most of the design cues found on the Sierra EV concept that was showcased at Auto Expo 2023. The ICE version of the Sierra is expected to feature a slightly different design with tweaks to get more air inside its dino-burning air-breathing powerplants.
The return of the Tata Sierra nameplate will come 22 years after the original Sierra was discontinued in 2003. First launched in 1993, the first-generation Sierra was offered with a naturally aspirated 2.0-litre diesel engine that was paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox. In 1997, thanks to tightening emission norms, Tata Motors updated the engine by bolting on a turbocharger to the diesel engine.
