Tata Punch Overtakes Maruti Wagon R As India's Bestselling Car In 2024
Tata Punch has become the top-selling car in India from January to July 2024, surpassing the Maruti Wagon R and Hyundai Creta. The Punch's success is partly due to its diverse powertrain options, including petrol, CNG, and electric versions. Tata Motors sold approximately 1.26 lakh units of the Punch during this period.
Electric and CNG Powertrains Boost Sales
The electric and CNG variants contributed significantly to the Punch's sales, making up 47 percent of the total units sold. This variety in powertrain options has likely played a crucial role in attracting a broader customer base. The addition of the fully electric version in January 2024 further enhanced its appeal.

Maruti Wagon R secured the second spot with 1.16 lakh units sold between January and July 2024. Despite being India's top-selling passenger car for three consecutive fiscal years, it was overtaken by the Punch in overall sales during this period.
