Tata Punch EV Crosses 10,000 Unit Sales Milestone: A New Benchmark In The EV Segment
The Tata Punch EV has quickly become one of the most successful electric car models in India. Tata Motors offers this SUV in electric, petrol, and petrol-CNG versions, all of which have been well-received by Indian consumers. The Punch EV, in particular, has seen strong demand, with over 10,000 units sold since its launch in January this year.
This rapid uptake has surprised many in the automotive industry. The Punch EV is available with two battery pack options: a 25kWh battery pack offering a claimed range of over 300km and a 35kWh battery pack with a claimed range of over 400km. The car is built on Tata's 'ALFA' (Agile Light Flexible Advanced) architecture.

The Tata Punch EV comes in five variants: Pure, Adventure, Creative, Accomplished, and Dynamic. It is also available in five different colours. The starting price for the entry-level variant is Rs 11 lakh (ex-showroom). Despite its competitive pricing, the car offers a range of crucial features.
These features include a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 360-degree surround view camera, ventilated front seats, a wireless charger, and a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Additional features include an air purifier, a single-pane panoramic sunroof, cruise control, and wireless mobile phone charging.

Safety Ratings
In terms of safety, the Tata Punch EV is equipped with six airbags, an electronic parking brake, ABS with EBD, blind view mirror, three-point seatbelts, and ISOFIX child seat mounts. The car recently underwent crash testing by Bharat NCAP and received a full five-star safety rating.
DriveSpark Thinks
The high safety ratings and affordable pricing have contributed to the Punch EV's popularity in India. This trend indicates that Indian consumers are increasingly prioritising safety when purchasing vehicles. Tata Motors' Nexon EV has also been recognised as one of the safest cars available.
Also, the success of Tata Punch EV signifies that a decent chunk of new car buyers are heading towards electrification. As such, we expect EV demand to increase in the coming years as well.
