Tata Nexon Prices Now Start At Rs 7.99 Lakh: Aims To Improve Customer Base
In response to the introduction of the Mahindra XUV 3XO and a slight dip in sales, Tata Motors has revamped the Nexon lineup with more accessible pricing and the addition of diesel engine options from the base variant itself.
After dominating the SUV segment for three years, Tata Nexon saw a decline in sales in April 2024. Addressing this, Tata has introduced new base variants for both petrol and diesel engines. These changes are aimed at making the Nexon more appealing to a broader audience.

Petrol Variants Get A Price Revision
The introduction of the Smart (O) base petrol variant at Rs. 7.99 lakh (ex-showroom) signals Tata's aggressive pricing strategy. It's not clear if this variant replaces the previous base model or adds a new entry point.
Additionally, significant price cuts have been made to the Smart+ Petrol 5MT variant, now priced at Rs. 8.89 lakh (ex-showroom), down from Rs. 9.2 lakh (ex-showroom). Despite the price reduction, Tata has enriched the Smart+ variant with a reverse camera feature.

Expansion Of Diesel Offerings
The most notable update is the extension of diesel engine options to the base Smart trim, making the entry-level diesel variant more affordable by about Rs. 1.1 lakh. The Smart+ Diesel 6MT variant, now priced at Rs. 9.99 lakh (ex-showroom).
This variant gets a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system by Harman, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, four speakers, a reverse camera, and more. The Smart+ S Diesel 6MT variant, priced at Rs. 10.59 lakh, adds features like auto headlights, an electric sunroof, and rain-sensing wipers.

Features & Powertrains Remain Consistent
Despite these updates, the base Smart Persona variants continue to miss out on automatic options, which is typical for this segment. However, Tata has maintained the powertrain options, ensuring that the new variants remain as robust and reliable as their predecessors.
DriveSpark Thinks
By adjusting prices, introducing diesel options from the base variant, and enhancing feature lists, Tata aims to reclaim its position in the competitive SUV market. This move demonstrates Tata's commitment to offering value-packed vehicles that meet the diverse needs of Indian consumers.
