Upcoming Tata Nexon iCNG Launch Details: A Glimpse Into The Future
The Tata Nexon is a popular compact SUV in India, known for its safety and performance. It has earned a 5-star safety rating from Global NCAP. Tata Motors offers the Nexon with petrol and electric powertrains, and a CNG variant is on the horizon.
The Tata Nexon iCNG will feature a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine modified to run on CNG. This engine produces 118 bhp and 170 Nm of torque in its petrol version. The CNG variant is expected to deliver slightly lower power figures.
Dual Cylinder Setup
Tata Motors introduced the dual-cylinder setup in CNG cars to save boot space. Instead of one large cylinder, two smaller cylinders are used. The Tata Nexon iCNG will likely adopt this setup, offering around 240 litres of boot space.
Safety Features
Tata cars are renowned for their safety standards, and the Nexon iCNG will likely include additional features to mitigate CNG-related risks. These may include a heat deflector, a CNG leakage detection system, and a safety valve for gas leaks.
Mileage
The Nexon iCNG is expected to deliver around 25km/kg. However, this figure is not ARAI-certified. Tata Motors will reveal the official mileage at the time of launch. That being said, we expect the running cost of the CNG variant to be much lower than its petrol/diesel counterparts.
Expected Price
The Tata Nexon iCNG is anticipated to be priced higher than the regular Nexon due to the modifications for CNG compatibility. It may cost Rs 1 lakh to Rs 1.5 lakh more than the standard model. Exact pricing details will be announced at the launch.
