Tata Nexon EV With Bigger Battery Pack Launched In India: Prices Start At Rs 13.99 Lakh
Tata Motors has made a significant update to its Nexon EV lineup by launching a new variant equipped with a 45kWh battery. This new option, starting at Rs 13.99 lakh, brings with it an enhanced ARAI-claimed range of 489km, which is an increase of 24km over the previous 40.5kWh battery models.
The introduction of this larger battery pack positions the Nexon EV as a more compelling option for those seeking longer range electric vehicles. Adding to the allure of the updated Nexon EV is the introduction of a panoramic sunroof in the 45kWh lineup, making it one of the few compact SUVs, alongside the Mahindra XUV 3XO, to offer this feature.
Additionally, the highest trims boast more luxury and convenience with additions such as a 'Frunk' for extra storage space. These enhancements aim to improve the overall driving and ownership experience of the Nexon EV.
The pricing strategy for the new battery variant is competitive, with the entry-level Creative trim priced at Rs 60,000 less than the starting price of the 40.5kWh Fearless trim. The top-spec Empowered+ trim is available for Rs 16.99 lakh, making the new 45kWh battery pack accessible across a range of price points.
There's also a special Red Dark edition that carries a price tag of Rs 17.19 lakh, adding a unique aesthetic appeal to the lineup.
The 45kWh battery not only extends the vehicle's range but also maintains the same power and torque outputs as the smaller battery, at 145hp and 215Nm. Tata Motors highlights that the new battery is 15 percent more energy dense yet occupies the same space as the 40.5kWh unit.
The charging time has improved, with the 45kWh battery requiring only 48 minutes to charge from 10-80 percent, compared to 56 minutes for the 40.5kWh battery. Despite a slight increase in weight, Tata Motors is confident of maintaining the 5-star BNCAP crash test rating with the new battery variant.
In addition to the technical upgrades, the Nexon EV now comes in a striking Red Dark edition. This special version, exclusive to the Empowered+ 45 trim, features gloss black paint with red accents and 16-inch gloss black wheels.
Inside, the Red Dark edition boasts red seat upholstery, an all-black dashboard with red stitching, and a specialized Red Dark UI for the infotainment system, providing a distinctive look and feel.
Alongside the launch of the new 45kWh battery pack, Tata Motors continues to offer the 30kWh and 40.5kWh variants, ensuring a broad selection for potential buyers. This strategy reinforces Tata's commitment to catering to a wide range of customer preferences and driving needs.
