Tata Nexon To Introduce CNG Variant In 2024, Enhancing Eco-Friendly Vehicle Choices
The Tata Nexon, a compact SUV that has carved a niche for itself in the Indian automotive market, is set to expand its appeal with an exciting addition.
Known for its robust design and versatile engine options, the Nexon currently offers petrol and diesel variants. However, Tata Motors is gearing up to fill a notable gap in its lineup by introducing a CNG variant of the Nexon, anticipated to hit the roads by the end of 2024.
As part of its comprehensive testing phase, the Tata Nexon CNG is being put through its paces on Indian roads, ensuring it meets the high standards expected by consumers.
This move comes after the model was unveiled at the 2024 Bharat Mobility Show, hinting at Tata Motors' commitment to diversifying fuel options in its portfolio.
The showcased Nexon CNG variant is powered by a 1.2-liter turbo petrol engine, renowned for its performance and efficiency. While this engine delivers an impressive 118 bhp and 170 Nm of torque in its petrol guise, it's anticipated that these figures will slightly decrease when adapted for CNG use. Experts predict the power output to hover around 100 bhp and 150 Nm on CNG, which, despite a minor reduction, does not compromise on the vehicle's mileage and performance.
Initially, Tata plans to pair the CNG engine with a 6-speed manual transmission, with speculations about a 6-speed AMT variant joining the lineup shortly after launch. This strategic rollout aims to cater to a broad spectrum of driving preferences among Indian consumers.
