Tata Nexon CNG: Top 5 Things You Need To Know

Tata Motors has introduced the Nexon CNG, starting at Rs 8.99 lakh. This launch is significant as it features a turbocharged CNG model, a first for the brand. The Nexon iCNG is available in eight variants, with the top-tier Fearless + PS manual variant priced at Rs 14.59 lakh. Like other Tata CNG models, it includes a dual-cylinder CNG kit.

Powertrain Details

Under the hood of the Tata Nexon CNG is a 1.2-litre three-cylinder engine delivering 100hp and 170Nm of torque—20hp less than its petrol counterpart but matching in torque. It achieves an ARAI-rated efficiency of 24km/kg with its 60-litre CNG tank.

The Nexon iCNG currently offers only a manual gearbox option; however, similar to the Tiago and Tigor CNG models, an AMT variant might be introduced later.

Boot Space

The Nexon iCNG's boot space has only reduced by 61 litres compared to its petrol counterpart, thanks to Tata's dual-cylinder technology. As a result, Nexon iCNG offers a boot capacity of 321 litres.

Features & Safety

The top-spec variant of the Nexon iCNG boasts features like a panoramic sunroof and a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster. It also includes a touchscreen infotainment system of the same size, wireless charging capabilities, ventilated front seats, four speakers with tweeters, and leatherette upholstery.

Safety is prioritised across all variants with standard features such as six airbags and ESP. The highest variant adds auto headlights and wipers, a 360-degree camera system, tyre pressure monitoring, front parking sensors, an auto-dimming IRVM and more.

Market Competition

The Nexon CNG competes with models like Maruti Fronx CNG (Rs 8.47 lakh-9.33 lakh), Toyota Taisor CNG (Rs 8.72 lakh), and Maruti Brezza CNG (Rs 9.29 lakh-10.65 lakh). All prices are ex-showroom India.

Price

Prices for the CNG variants begin Rs 1 lakh higher than the petrol version, which starts at Rs 7.99 lakh. The Nexon CNG lineup includes Smart, Smart +, Smart + S, Pure, Pure S, Creative, Creative + and Fearless + PS variants.
