Tata Harrier EV: Our Top Expectations About The Upcoming Electric SUV

Tata Motors is gearing up to launch the Harrier EV, an all-electric SUV, in India during this financial year. The vehicle was initially unveiled at Auto Expo 2023 and later at the Bharat Mobility Expo. The Harrier EV will retain the muscular stance of its ICE-based counterpart, with subtle design elements hinting at its electric nature.

Exterior Design

The front of the Harrier EV features a blanked-off grille with horizontal slats, full-width LED DRLs, and a redesigned bumper housing the ADAS sensor. The side profile is identical to the standard Harrier but is accentuated by dual-tone alloy wheels with an aero design. The rear profile is nearly indistinguishable from the ICE version, except for the lack of an exhaust pipe. New colour options, including Seaweed Green, are anticipated for the Harrier EV.

Interior and Features

Inside, the Harrier EV will include a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, a 10-speaker JBL audio system, an all-digital instrument panel, touch-based HVAC controls, powered and ventilated front-row seats, and a panoramic sunroof.

Other features include dual-zone climate control, auto-dimming IRVM, electrically adjustable and foldable ORVMs, steering-mounted controls, wireless charging, ambient lighting, rear AC vents, and six airbags.

Powertrain and Range

The Harrier EV will be more advanced than Tata's current electric offerings, featuring a larger battery pack that provides an estimated driving range of 500km on a single charge. Additionally, it will be the first Tata EV to offer an AWD configuration.

Pricing and Competition

The Harrier EV is expected to be priced between Rs. 25 lakh to Rs. 35 lakh (ex-showroom), making it significantly more expensive than its ICE counterpart. Competitors in this price range include upcoming models like Mahindra XUV.e9 and XUV.e8, Hyundai Creta EV, BYD Atto 3, and MG ZS EV.

DriveSpark Thinks

Tata's upcoming Harrier EV promises to deliver impressive performance and features while maintaining the popular design elements of its ICE-based sibling. With its competitive pricing and advanced technology offerings, it is poised to make a strong impact on India's growing electric vehicle market.
