Tata Harrier EV: Spy Shots Suggest Luxurious And Powerful Features
Recent spy images of Tata's Harrier EV indicate promising developments in the powertrain department. These test mules were sighted in Leh Ladakh, implying altitude testing has started. Tata aims to expand its electric vehicle lineup, targeting both premium and budget segments.
Tata Harrier EV will likely share its powertrain with the Safari EV, offering various seating layouts like their ICE versions. The recently revealed test mule seems equipped with an electric motor on the rear axle, hinting at an AWD version with dual motors.
For a long time, Tata's upcoming models bring positive news for SUV lovers. Engineers at Tata Motors disclosed during the Punch EV media drive that the new Acti.ev platform can support FWD, RWD, and AWD configurations. The AWD option with dual motors is highly anticipated.
The new Harrier EV spy shots also show an independent rear suspension, a feature previously seen in Tata's older models like the Indica and Nano. This could mean a more refined ride and handling for the upcoming Harrier EV and Safari EV.
Tata Motors has already showcased the Harrier EV concept at the 2024 Auto Expo, and the production model is expected to be quite similar. The vehicle will have unique EV-specific design elements and advanced features such as front and rear ventilated seats, dual-zone climate control, and a 360-degree camera.
Additional features include a panoramic sunroof, soft-touch plastics, 19-inch aero alloy wheels, a 12.3-inch infotainment screen, a 10.2-inch instrument screen, and an electrically adjustable driver seat. Level-2 ADAS and telematics will also be offered.
The Harrier EV's exact powertrain details remain undisclosed, but speculations suggest a battery capable of delivering around 500 km range. The main highlight from the test mule is the AWD dual-motor setup, a first for a modern Tata vehicle since the Hexa.
To regain lost market share, Tata is employing a dual strategy. Alongside the Harrier EV, the company plans to introduce the Curvv EV and Safari EV, covering a broader range of price points and consumer preferences.
