Upcoming Tata Curvv To Sport Diesel Powertrain: Will Be Offered In Manual & Automatic Variants
Tata Motors stirred excitement with its Curvv concept, showcasing both electric and petrol variants poised for market release. In a recent revelation, the company is also preparing to offer a diesel variant of the upcoming Curvv SUV.
This strategic move is expected to broaden its appeal across different consumer preferences. The move also signals Tata Motors' commitment to catering to the diversified demands of Indian car buyers.

Starting with the powertrain options, the Curvv will introduce an all-new direct-injection turbo-petrol engine to the Indian market. In addition to this, Tata Motors will also launch the Curvv EV with an all-electric powertrain.
However, what captured everyone's attention is the presence of diesel engine option for the upcoming Tata Curvv SUV. However, this is not an all-new powertrain unit but an existing one.

According to sources, the diesel Curvv will harness the power from a 1.5-litre engine from the Nexon range. This engine puts out 114bhp and 260Nm of torque. Buyers can look forward to a choice between a 6-speed manual or an AMT unit.
With the introduction of Tata Curvv, Tata Motors will be able to directly compete against the likes of C-segment SUVs such as Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, MG Astor, Skoda Kushaq & more.

The Curvv's diesel engine has been upgraded to meet the stringent BS6-2 emissions norms, with Tata opting for a cost-efficient Passive Selective Catalytic Reduction system over the pricier SCR alternative that necessitates a urea injection setup.
Sources also indicate that Tata Motors is gearing up for series production of the Curvv SUV around April this year at their Ranjangaon facility near Pune. With a sales target of approximately 48,000 units per year.
