Tata Curvv & Curvv.ev: Top 5 Highlights You Need To Know
The Curvv is the latest entrant in the midsize SUV market, featuring a distinctive coupe-SUV design. Tata Motors recently launched this new model in India, offering petrol, diesel, and electric versions. The Curvv aims to compete with established midsize SUVs like the Creta, Elevate, and Grand Vitara. While prices for the electric version have been announced, those for the petrol and diesel variants will be revealed on September 2.
Tata Curvv Powertrain Options
The Tata Curvv ICE engine options include a 120hp, 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine and an updated 118hp, 1.5-litre diesel engine from the Tata Nexon. Additionally, it introduces a new 1.2-litre three-cylinder direct-injection turbo-petrol engine producing 125hp and 225Nm of torque. All three engines come with a standard 6-speed manual transmission and a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic.

The Curvv EV is available with two battery options: a 45kWh unit and a 55kWh unit. The 55kWh variant features a 167hp electric motor on the front axle, while the 45kWh version has a 150hp motor; both generate 215Nm of torque. Tata claims that the MIDC range is 502 km for the 45kWh battery and 585 km for the 55kWh battery on a single charge. A CNG version is also being considered.

Tata Curvv Dimensions
In terms of dimensions, the Tata Curvv is based on the Nexon but is slightly larger. It measures 313mm longer and has a wheelbase that is extended by 62mm compared to the Nexon. This results in more legroom inside, and despite its sloping roofline, rear headroom remains adequate.
The Curvv is also wider by 6mm, taller by 10mm, and rides on larger 18-inch wheels compared to Nexon's 16-inch wheels. The increased length provides an additional boot space of 118 litres over Nexon's total of 382 litres.

Tata Curvv Features
The top variants of the Tata Curvv come loaded with features such as leatherette upholstery, ventilated six-way adjustable front seats, a two-step rear seat recline function, front and rear Type-C charging ports (45W), the Arcade.ev app suite, a panoramic sunroof, powered tailgate with gesture control, and a JBL sound system with nine speakers (320W).
Safety features on the Curvv SUV Coupe include six airbags, an electronic parking brake with auto hold function, hill-start assist and descent control, ESP, blind spot monitoring, and Level-2 ADAS features.

For electric vehicles (EVs), it rivals MG ZS EV while overlapping in price with Mahindra XUV400 and Tata's own Nexon EV. Future competitors include the Hyundai Creta EV and the Maruti Suzuki eVX.
