India's Tata Ace Transformed Into Electric Vehicle By Northway Motors

The Tata Ace, a popular mini truck in India, is affectionately called 'Kutti Yaanai' by many, especially Tamilians.

This vehicle is now set to undergo a significant transformation. Northway Motors, a company based in Maharashtra, is converting Tata Aces that run on regular fuel into electric vehicles.

Tata Ace s Electric Makeover by Northway

Northway Motors previously manufactured EV conversion kits for Maruti Suzuki cars. Now, it has extended its services to the Tata Ace.

The converted Tata Ace will have a range of up to 350 km on a single charge, thanks to a 39 kWh battery pack provided by Northway Motors.

The company states that the vehicle will offer a range of 270 km when fully loaded, 300 km when half loaded, and 350 km with little or no load. This makes it suitable for delivery and goods vehicle services, which typically require travel of 100 km to 150 km per day.

Charging these vehicles daily can significantly reduce battery life. To address this, Northway Motors is providing a large battery pack in the converted Tata Aces. This allows vehicle owners to take more rides and earn more profit without frequent charging.

Tata Ace EV: Existing Market Options

Tata Motors already sells an electric version of the Ace mini truck in India. The Tata Ace EV is priced at over Rs 9 lakh ex-showroom. It features a 21.3 kWh LFP battery pack and an electric motor that outputs 27 kW of power and 130 Nm of torque. The vehicle has a top speed of 60 km/h and offers a range of up to 154 km on a single charge.

Additional Features

The Tata Ace EV comes with several advanced features, including a 7-inch infotainment system, new generation instrument cluster, navigation, tracking facility, and geo-fencing. These features enhance the overall driving experience and utility of the vehicle.

DriveSpark Thinks

Electric vehicles are receiving positive feedback in India. However, not everyone can afford new electric vehicles. Recognising this, Northway Motors offers the facility to convert existing fuel-engine vehicles into electric ones. This initiative aims to make electric vehicles more accessible to a broader audience.
