Switch Mobility Reveals EiV12 & E1 Electric Buses For India and Europe
Switch Mobility, the EV subsidiary of Ashok Leyland, has revealed two new electric buses - EiV12 and E1. Nitin Gadkari, the Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways unveiled the two new electric buses in the presence of Ashok P. Hinduja, Chairman of Hinduja Group Companies (India) and other dignitaries.
While the EiV12 is for the Indian market, the E1 has been engineered specifically for use in the European market. However, both electric buses share the same design philosophy and EV architecture.

Switch Mobility states that the EiV12's platform has been indigenously designed, developed and manufactured for urban city commutes. The firm also states that the EIV12 is India's first low-floor electric city bus with chassis-mounted batteries that offer a capacity of over 400+ kWh.
The Switch Mobility EiV12 can seat up to a segment-leading 39 passengers. The low-floor entry with a kneeling mechanism ensures easy ingress and egress for passengers using the EiV12 and the automated wheelchair ramp and and dedicated spaces make it accessible for differently abled passengers.

The EiV12 has also been specifically made with women's safety in mind with the electric bus sporting 5 CCTV cameras with no blind spots as well as 5 dedicated seats for women.
The Switch EiV12 offers real-time vehicle health monitoring, ITMS and efficient fleet management. For charging the Switch EiV12 sports a dual-gun charging interface at the rear for rapid recharging while also optimizing space usage in the depot. The battery pack is also IP67 rated which means the EiV12 can deal with flooded roads with ease.

The Switch E1, on the other hand, has been designed specifically for the European market and showcases quite a few cutting-edge tech highlights to help it take on rivals. The E1 sports a lightweight monocoque chassis, in-wheel motors, and a flat gangway layout providing seamless movement and accessibility for passengers.
This Switch E1 can accommodate up to 93 passengers (including those standing) and its triple-door (front, centre and rear) design allows for quick boarding and alighting, which makes it perfect for urban transit.
Speaking about the reveal of the two new electric buses, Dheeraj Hinduja, Chairman of Switch Mobility, said, "The launch of the Switch EiV12 and the flagging off of the Switch E1 for Spain is a proud milestone for the Hinduja Group and Ashok Leyland, underscoring our commitment to sustainable mobility. In addition to the EiV12 and E1, Switch is developing a range of new products to expand our global offerings. At Switch Mobility, we are driving a greener future and advancing our long-term vision to democratize electric mobility worldwide."
