Leadership Transition At Suzuki GB PLC: Dale Wyatt To Retire, David Kateley Steps Up

Suzuki has announced that Dale Wyatt, Director of Automobile, will retire early in March 2025 after 17 successful years with the company. Wyatt is stepping down to focus on his health and well-being and to explore new business opportunities within the automotive industry.

Wyatt will continue to lead the Automobile Division until January 2025. His successor, David Kateley, will take over from January. Kateley has been with Suzuki for 20 years and currently heads the Automobile Sales Operations division. He has worked closely with Wyatt since 2014.

David Kateley joined Suzuki in 2003 in a business development role with Suzuki Financial Services. In 2007, he became Regional Sales Manager for the South of England before being promoted to General Manager in 2014. Over the past decade, his responsibilities have expanded significantly.

Takanori Suzuki, Managing Director of Suzuki GB PLC, praised Wyatt's contributions: "Dale Wyatt has been hugely instrumental in leading our brand's progress and success in the UK and Republic of Ireland. To say he has made an outstanding contribution to the company during this time is a major understatement and on behalf of Suzuki I would like to sincerely thank him. From next March, Dale will be very much missed by our employees, dealer network, customers as well as the automotive media."

Dale Wyatt expressed mixed feelings about his departure: "It is never easy to step back from a job and company that you love. I have had a wonderful career at Suzuki, and I will be enthusiastically leading the automobile division until the end of this year. I am equally enthusiastic about supporting David Kateley in quarter 1 2025 as he picks up the reigns from January 2025."

Wyatt also reflected on his tenure: "I am extremely proud of the Suzuki UK and Ireland automobile business that I have had the privilege of leading. As a united team we have consistently delivered on our commercial goals whilst remaining a human first company that serves the needs of its employees, dealers and customers."

Future Plans

Looking ahead, Wyatt plans to remain active within the automotive industry: "Whilst I intend to be a tad less busy, I do have some big personal and professional goals, and as part of that I fully intend to ensure that I spend some of my time working and advising in the industry that I love."

Kateley's extensive experience within Suzuki positions him well for his new role. His broad understanding of all Automobile Division functions ensures continuity as he takes over leadership.

Dale Wyatt's departure marks the end of an era for Suzuki UK and Ireland. His leadership has been pivotal in achieving commercial goals while maintaining a people-first approach.

The transition period will see Wyatt supporting Kateley through early 2025. This ensures a smooth handover as Kateley steps into his new role.

Suzuki's future looks promising under Kateley's leadership. The company anticipates continued success as it navigates future challenges in the automotive landscape.
