SUSTAINera Expands Its Circular Economy Solutions In North America For Sustainable Automotive Practices
Stellantis is expanding its circular economy initiatives in North America under the SUSTAINera label, focusing on remanufacturing, reuse, repair, and recycling. Alison Jones, Stellantis' senior vice president for global circular economy, highlighted these efforts at the AAPEX event in Las Vegas. The expansion is driven by growing consumer interest in sustainable automotive practices.
According to GIPA analysis, 45% of drivers are concerned about sustainability in products and services. Two-thirds are open to using remanufactured parts, with four out of five electric vehicle drivers showing interest. Additionally, 55% of drivers prefer reused parts for repairs, rising to three out of four among electric vehicle owners.

The SUSTAINera label ensures parts meet OEM specifications with the same performance and warranty as new Mopar parts but with a lower carbon footprint. This approach has expanded the range of remanufactured parts to 35 product lines in 2024, including air suspension compressors and PHEV battery packs for Jeep Wrangler.
Reuse Business Growth
B-Parts, a partner in the reuse business and leader in Europe’s original used auto parts market, launched in the U.S. earlier this year. It now stocks over one million original used parts from more than ten states. These parts are compatible with over 60 car brands and offer a cost-effective repair solution.
B-Parts provides a six-month warranty on all parts and delivers orders within five days. Their e-commerce platform offers multiple payment options and a 14-day return policy for a seamless purchasing experience.
Repairing to Reduce Waste
SUSTAINera's repaired parts adhere to OEM standards across various categories like bodywork and electronics. This initiative supports sustainability by extending part lifespans and offering diverse customer options.
Recycling Initiatives
Stellantis has established a recycling channel for alloy wheels in North America through its casting plants. End-of-life wheels are collected from dealers and melted down to create secondary raw aluminium for powertrain components. This closed-loop process prevents material waste by reintegrating it into production.
This recycling approach also applies to plastics from body parts and metals from catalytic converters in the U.S. and Canada. Opportunities for further expansion in recycling remain significant.
SUSTAINera's Role in Decarbonization
SUSTAINera encompasses Stellantis' circular economy activities, offering sustainable products without compromising quality. It plays a crucial role in Stellantis’ decarbonization strategy aimed at achieving carbon net zero by 2038 by reducing waste and resource use while maintaining affordability.
Stellantis N.V., known for brands like Jeep and Chrysler, aims to provide clean mobility solutions globally. Its Dare Forward 2030 plan targets becoming a carbon net zero mobility tech company by 2038 while delivering value to stakeholders.
