Subaru Loves Pets Initiative Contributes $3 Million To Support Shelter Animals Nationwide

Subaru of America, Inc. has announced enhancements to its Subaru Loves Pets initiative, aiming to improve the lives of shelter animals. This October, Subaru and its retailers will contribute over $3 million to local animal shelters across the U.S. through ASPCA-administered grants. These funds will help cover adoption preparation costs and veterinary expenses. Additionally, Subaru retailers will organise events like adoption and microchipping to find homes for pets in their communities.

Subaru's commitment to animal welfare is evident through its partnership with the ASPCA. Alan Bethke, Senior Vice President of Marketing at Subaru of America, Inc., stated: "The Subaru community has a true passion for animal welfare, which is genuinely and enthusiastically matched by our retailers with their support of local organizations through adoption events and fundraising initiatives."

This year, Subaru plans to donate $20 to the ASPCA for each purchase of select items from Subaru Parts Online in October, up to $10,000. These items include Genuine Subaru Pet-Friendly Accessories. The ASPCA reports that around 6.5 million animals entered shelters in the U.S. in 2023, many without families or homes.

Matt Bershadker, President and CEO of the ASPCA, expressed pride in their partnership with Subaru: "The ASPCA is proud to be the national charity partner for the Subaru Loves Pets initiative, helping to support Subaru, its retailers, and hundreds of animal welfare organizations across the country as they assist tens of thousands of shelter animals in need."

On October 22nd, Subaru will celebrate National Make a Dog’s Day for the sixth time. This day encourages dog lovers to do something special for their pets and share these moments on social media using #MakeADogsDay. For those without pets, Subaru suggests adopting a shelter pet or an "Underdog," which refers to older or disabled dogs.

Since 2008, Subaru has donated over $60 million to animal welfare organisations at both national and local levels. This funding has supported the rescue and adoption of more than 504,000 pets. The company’s dedication extends beyond vehicles; it aims to make a positive impact on communities.
