Subaru Helps Over 750,000 Students In Need With Educational Supplies
Subaru of America, Inc. (SOA) has announced that its Subaru Loves Learning® initiative will support 750,000 students this year. Partnering with AdoptAClassroom.org®, Subaru and over 630 retailers are providing essential supplies to schools nationwide. This marks the fourth year of their collaboration.
According to AdoptAClassroom.org, 92% of teachers in the U.S. have students whose families can't afford school supplies. Consequently, teachers spend an average of $860 annually from their own pockets to support their classrooms. Alan Bethke, Senior Vice President of Marketing at Subaru of America, Inc., stated, "At Subaru, we believe that every student deserves a fair opportunity at a quality education. We are incredibly proud of the progress achieved in supporting over 750,000 students, and we know the importance of continuing to support students and teachers around the country to have the best learning environment possible."
Subaru and its retailers aim to assist high-needs schools by funding teachers to purchase necessary supplies. Many retailers will also donate school supply kits with materials highly requested by educators. Ann Pifer, Executive Director of AdoptAClassroom.org, expressed gratitude: "This record number of students being supported would not be possible without the help of the Subaru community. We are grateful to extend our partnership with Subaru for a fourth year in a row and sincerely thank Subaru and its retailers for the difference they make in the lives and educational opportunities of students and teachers around the country."
To kick off the 2024 program, Subaru will continue its efforts in Camden City School District (CCSD). They will adopt all kindergarten to fifth grade classrooms near their headquarters in Camden, NJ. This initiative will impact over 2,090 students and 122 classrooms across eight schools.
Adopting every elementary school in CCSD is one way Subaru demonstrates its commitment to being More Than a Car Company®. The company’s efforts extend beyond providing vehicles; they aim to support communities and improve educational opportunities nationwide.
Subaru's dedication is reflected in their broader corporate philosophy known as the Subaru Love Promise. This vision emphasizes showing love and respect for everyone while supporting communities across the nation. Over two decades, SOA and its foundation have donated more than $320 million to various causes important to the Subaru family.
