Skoda Superb Faces Sales Challenge in India Due to High Price
Skoda reintroduced its luxury sedan, the Superb, in India a few months ago. The car had previously enjoyed a good reputation, so expectations were high for its sales. However, the reality has been different, with sales not meeting expectations.
Initially, the relaunch seemed promising. The first two months saw decent sales figures. But in May, only four units were sold, and June saw just one sale. This decline has been concerning for the company.

Skoda currently offers several models in India, including the Superb, Kodiaq, Kushaq, and Slavia. Despite this variety, the Superb's sales have been disappointing.
The primary reason for the low sales is the car's price. As a fully imported vehicle, it is priced at Rs. 54 lakh. This high cost has made it one of the least selling cars in Skoda's lineup.
The exterior of the Superb features a chrome surround design for the radiator grille and a lower air dam on the front bumper.
It also includes LED headlights and fog lights at the front and LED lights at the rear. The car rides on 18-inch dual-tone alloy wheels. There have been no significant design changes from the previous model.

Under the hood, the car is powered by a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder TSI petrol engine that produces 187 bhp and 320 Nm of torque. This engine is paired with a 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox. Mileage details have not been disclosed yet.
Interior and Safety Features
The interior boasts a 9-inch system with mobile connectivity. The front seats are equipped with power and ventilation features, while the driver's seat includes massage functions. Additionally, there is a three-zone climate control option.

In terms of safety, the car comes with ABS, Hill Brake Assist, Hill Hold Control, Tire Pressure Monitoring System, Electronic Parking Brake, a 360° camera, and nine airbags. It has received a 5-star rating in crash tests.
Despite its excellent features and design, the high price tag has deterred many potential buyers. The car's design has been a significant factor in its popularity among those who have purchased it.
Market Performance
Skoda initially discontinued the Superb due to various reasons but decided to bring it back as a fully imported model in March. The company had high hopes for its performance in the market.
The Skoda Superb has sold only 33 units so far since its reintroduction. While it remains a well-regarded vehicle among enthusiasts, its steep price continues to be a barrier for many potential buyers.
The Skoda Superb remains an excellent car with advanced features and safety ratings but struggles with sales due to its high cost in India.
