Skoda Kylaq Production To Commence In October: All Details Here
Skoda India is gearing up for the launch of its first compact SUV, the Kylaq, early next year. Positioned below the Kushaq, the Kylaq will be produced at Skoda's Chakan plant. Production is set to begin by October this year, with a monthly target of 4,000 to 5,800 units.
The Kylaq shares its MQB A0 IN platform with the Kushaq and Slavia, as well as Volkswagen's Virtus and Taigun. This compact SUV will be built alongside the Kushaq. Skoda plans an annual production run of 50,000 to 70,000 units for the Kylaq. Initially aimed at the domestic market, Skoda also intends to export the vehicle to enhance economies of scale.

Skoda Kylaq: Design and Features
Teaser images and sketches reveal that the Kylaq will feature Skoda's familiar design language. However, it will also introduce the brand's 'Modern Solid' design language in India. Expect split headlamps and a wide grille with vertical slats. The Kylaq will have a slightly shorter wheelbase than the Kushaq and tighter front and rear overhangs to stay under four metres in length.
The interior of the Kylaq is expected to resemble that of the Kushaq closely but with more features. It may include a 360-degree camera and an ADAS suite from launch. These additions aim to offer more value than what is currently available in the Kushaq and Slavia models.

Skoda Kylaq: Engine and Performance
The Kylaq will be powered by a 1.0-litre, three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine producing 115hp and 178Nm of torque. Transmission options will include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.
Key competitors for the Kylaq will include popular models like Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, Kia Sonet, and Maruti Brezza. Pricing will be crucial for its success, and Skoda aims to leverage its heavily localized MQB A0 IN platform to price the Kylaq competitively from launch.

The Kylaq has been spotted testing on Indian roads multiple times. These sightings have generated significant interest among potential buyers eagerly awaiting its release.
With its blend of modern design elements, advanced features, and competitive pricing strategy, Skoda aims to make a strong impact in India's compact SUV segment with the Kylaq.
