Skoda Kylaq Debut On November 6: All Details Here
Skoda is gearing up to introduce its maiden venture into the compact SUV market with the Kylaq, set to hit the roads in early 2025. The vehicle will make its global debut in a production-ready form on November 6, marking a significant milestone as the brand's initial entry into this segment.
The Kylaq will roll off the production line based on the MQB-A0-IN platform, representing the third product to utilize this foundation. It also signifies a crucial step in Skoda's India 2.5 strategy.

This development confirms earlier reports about the vehicle's production starting in October, with Skoda aiming to manufacture between 50,000 and 70,000 units annually. Initially, the Kylaq will cater to the domestic market before Skoda commences exports to achieve better economies of scale.
The new compact SUV will showcase Skoda's 'Modern Solid' design philosophy for the first time in India, blending typical SUV characteristics with a design ethos seen in the Skoda Elroq's sketches. Features like split headlamps and a wide grille with vertical slats, alongside a compact frame to stay within the four-metre length, are expected.
In terms of design and features, the Kylaq is anticipated to borrow elements from the Kushaq, but with added enhancements such as a 360-degree camera and an ADAS suite, offering more than what is currently available in the Kushaq and Slavia.

Its interior design is likely to be similar to that of the Kushaq, ensuring familiarity with the brand's current offerings while integrating new technologies. The compact SUV has been seen undergoing tests on Indian roads, indicating that its development is well underway.
Under the hood, the Kylaq will sport a 115hp, 178Nm 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine, available with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission. This powertrain is expected to provide a blend of performance and efficiency suited to its segment.
With an array of rivals including the Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, Kia Sonet, and the Maruti Brezza, the Kylaq's success will largely depend on its pricing strategy. Leveraging the heavily localized MQB A0 IN platform, Skoda is likely to price the Kylaq competitively to make a strong entry into the market right from its launch.
