Skoda Kylaq Bookings To Commence Next Month: Deliveries To From January 2025
Skoda Auto India has unveiled the Kylaq, a compact SUV tailored for the Indian market. This sub-4-metre vehicle is priced at Rs 7.89 lakh for its base variant. The car will be available for booking from 2 December 2024, with deliveries starting on 27 January 2025. The Kylaq will also be showcased at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Expo.
Kylaq's Design and Features
The Kylaq resembles a smaller version of the Kushaq, featuring similar front and rear designs. It includes 17-inch alloy wheels and measures 3.95 metres in length with a wheelbase of 2.56 metres. The SUV offers a ground clearance of 189mm and a boot capacity of 446 litres, expandable to 1,265 litres with seats folded.

Inside, the Kylaq boasts dual digital screens, leatherette upholstery, and ambient lighting. A powered driver seat and a six-speaker Canton sound system enhance comfort and entertainment. Safety features include six airbags, ABS with EBD, traction control, ISOFIX child seat mounts, headrests, and three-point seatbelts for all passengers.
Engine Specifications
Under the hood, the Kylaq houses a 1.0-litre TSI petrol engine delivering 114bhp and 178Nm of torque. Buyers can choose between a six-speed manual or automatic transmission. This engine is shared with some Volkswagen models based on the MQB-A0-IN platform.

The Kylaq is available in six colours: Lava Blue, Tornado Red, Carbon Steel, Brilliant Silver, Candy White, and Olive Gold. This variety allows customers to select according to their preferences.
Market Positioning
This launch marks Skoda's return to the sub-Rs. 10 lakh segment after nearly ten years. The Kylaq aims to capture Tier 3 and Tier 4 markets where Skoda currently lacks presence. Competitors include Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Mahindra XUV 3XO, Maruti Fronx, Maruti Brezza, and Toyota Taisor.

Skoda's new offering is expected to boost sales volumes significantly by appealing to budget-conscious buyers seeking premium features in an affordable package.
DriveSpark Thinks
Skoda's introduction of the Kylaq represents a strategic move to expand its footprint in India's competitive compact SUV market while providing consumers with an attractive blend of style and functionality at an accessible price point.
