Johannes Neft, Škoda Auto Board Member for Technical Development, stated: "The safety of our customers and all other road users is our top priority. Therefore, we are delighted to receive five-star ratings for the second-generation Škoda Kodiaq and fourth-generation Škoda Superb in the Euro NCAP test. We are particularly proud of our strong results for Adult and Child Occupant protection. The fact that we have extended our successful record of five-star evaluations for our vehicles even after the more stringent test parameters were introduced in 2023 confirms our clear commitment to the highest safety standards."

Both models feature numerous state-of-the-art assistance systems designed to alert drivers to potential collisions and help prevent or minimise their consequences. These include Front Assist with predictive pedestrian and cyclist protection, Side Assist with Rear Traffic Alert, Collision Avoidance Assist, Turn Assist, Crossroad Assist, and Exit Warning. Travel Assist supports longitudinal and lateral vehicle control, while Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) includes Adaptive Lane Assist with roadworks recognition.

High Passive Safety Standards

The car bodies of both models incorporate hot-formed, high-strength steel components mainly used on the A and B-pillars, firewall, and tunnel console. In an accident, occupants are protected by rigid bodywork, generous crumple zones, up to ten airbags in the Superb, and up to nine airbags in the Kodiaq. Both cars also feature a central airbag between the front seats.

Euro NCAP Assessments

Founded in 1997 in Leuven, Belgium, Euro NCAP is a collaboration among transport ministries, automobile clubs, insurance associations, and research institutes from eight European countries. The programme conducts crash tests on current vehicle models to assess their active and passive safety features as well as their capacities for rescue and recovery. Since 2020, criteria adjustments have been made every three years to include tertiary safety aspects like Emergency Call features.

Škoda Auto aims to be one of Europe's top five best-selling brands by 2030 through its Next Level - Škoda Strategy 2030. The company plans to expand its attractive line-up in entry-level segments and introduce additional e-models. In 2023 alone, Škoda delivered over 866,000 vehicles worldwide.

Operating at three sites in the Czech Republic with additional production capacity in China, Slovakia, India through Group partnerships, as well as Ukraine with a local partner; Škoda employs around 40,000 people globally across approximately 100 markets. As part of the Volkswagen Group for over three decades now; it contributes significantly by manufacturing components such as MEB battery systems used across various Group brands.

The new nano radar sensors positioned at strategic points further enhance assistance systems like Front Assist or Crossroad Assist. Additionally; Attention & Drowsiness Assist monitors driver behaviour assessing fatigue levels triggering visual & acoustic warnings if necessary ensuring enhanced driver safety.

The success of these models underscores Škoda's dedication towards maintaining high safety standards amidst evolving testing criteria ensuring customer confidence remains intact while driving any new generation vehicle from this esteemed brand.
