Škoda Unveils Kodiaq Armoured: A New Standard In Occupant Security And Protection
Škoda has unveiled the Kodiaq Armoured, a vehicle designed for enhanced passenger safety. Developed in collaboration with UTAC Special Vehicles, this model builds on the success of the Superb Armoured. Since 2018, nearly 500 units of the Superb Armoured have been sold globally. The Kodiaq Armoured is certified to PAS 300 and PAS 301 standards, ensuring it meets rigorous safety criteria.
The Kodiaq Armoured underwent extensive testing, including exposure to over 200 rounds of ammunition. It features bullet-resistant glass and armoured steel for comprehensive protection against firearms and explosives. These enhancements ensure that occupants are shielded from various threats while maintaining visibility.
To handle the increased weight from its armour, the Kodiaq Armoured is equipped with upgraded suspension and brakes. This ensures that the vehicle retains its agility and drivability similar to standard models. Additionally, a tyre retention system allows continued travel even if tyres are punctured, maintaining control at all times.
Inside, the Kodiaq Armoured includes an emergency lighting and siren system alongside an advanced communications hub. This hub features an 8-inch touchscreen with GPS capabilities and supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Despite these modifications, the vehicle maintains comfort and practicality akin to its non-armoured counterpart.
The Kodiaq Armoured offers a spacious interior with five seats and over 2,000 litres of boot space. Customers can choose from various powertrain options, including four-wheel drive, ensuring versatility in different driving conditions.
