Skoda India To Enhance Lineup With 2024 Kodiaq And New EVs
Skoda India is gearing up to introduce the 2024 Kodiaq, following the success of its India 2.0 strategy. This strategy helped the company achieve 1,00,000 unit sales in just two years, a record time for Skoda in India. The Kushaq and Slavia were major contributors to this achievement, while the Kodiaq also saw its highest sales during this period.
Since its launch in 2017, the Kodiaq has significantly impacted Skoda's global and Indian markets. Petr Janeba, Brand Director at Skoda India, noted that the Kodiaq marked their entry into the seven-seater SUV segment. "The Kodiaq has not only enhanced our brand image but also attracted a new customer base," Janeba said.

Skoda Kodiaq Facelift: Major Benefits
The upcoming facelifted model of the Kodiaq will feature several upgrades. It will offer more variants, including a five-seater option alongside the seven-seater. However, it will retain the same powertrain and engine as the current model. The existing 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder TSI petrol engine produces 187 bhp and 320 Nm of peak torque.
Skoda India is also planning to expand its network across the country. Currently, it has 200 sales touchpoints covering Tier 1 and Tier 2 cities almost entirely. The company aims to increase these touchpoints to between 280-300 by the end of 2025, especially focusing on Tier 3 markets.

Upcoming EV Launches
The carmaker has an aggressive lineup planned for the next year or so. Besides launching the new Kodiaq, Skoda plans to introduce a compact SUV and updates to the Kushaq and Slavia models. Notably, two new electric vehicles (EVs) are anticipated: after showcasing the Enyaq EV earlier this year, Skoda is considering bringing the Elroq EV to India.
The launch of these EVs depends on government regulations supporting faster adoption. "If policies are favourable, we might launch both Enyaq and Elroq EVs together in 2026," Janeba mentioned. If not, they will start with limited numbers focusing on Enyaq.

Launch Timeline for New Models
The new Kodiaq model is expected to arrive by mid-2025. Currently, Skoda is setting up new logistics storage racks as most parts are imported from Europe and assembled locally. Some components like engines are produced in India. "We'll sell the current model until year-end and then take a break before launching the new one," Janeba confirmed.
Before introducing the new Kodiaq, Skoda plans to launch a sub-four metre SUV in February 2025. This compact SUV aims to increase their market presence significantly.
In addition to product launches, Skoda is also planning to add more service centres across India. With over three lakh cars on Indian roads, expanding service centres will support their growing customer base effectively.
The company's strategic plans reflect its commitment to expanding its footprint in India while catering to diverse customer needs with updated models and new launches.
