Ryvid's New Power Controller Upgrade Elevates Anthem And Outset Electric Motorcycles

Ryvid, a California-based electric motorcycle manufacturer, is offering a new Power Controller Upgrade by Accelerated Systems Inc (ASI) for their Anthem and Outset models. This upgrade boosts acceleration, power, and torque by 30% without affecting the battery range. New customers can order the upgrade when purchasing a new bike, while existing owners can install it themselves or request assistance from a Ryvid technician.

Testing by Ryvid engineers revealed that the ASI Controller significantly enhances performance. The peak torque at the wheel increased from 250 ft-lb to 334 ft-lb, and peak horsepower rose from 20hp to 27hp. Despite these improvements, the battery range remains unaffected. This makes the Ryvid Anthem and Outset models more enjoyable to ride and better suited for highway use.

The Power Controller Upgrade by ASI is recommended for experienced riders due to its performance boost. However, both models retain their selectable riding modes: Sport and Eco. In Eco mode, power delivery is softened with regenerative braking. In Sport mode, riders can experience full performance with stronger regenerative braking that can be further increased using a rider-selected trigger.

New customers can configure their orders to include the ASI Controller at Ryvid’s Californian assembly facility. Current owners can purchase the $800 controller via Ryvid's website and install it themselves or request a technician's help. DIY installation requires installing a secondary wiring harness and takes about three hours. A video guide is available on Ryvid’s website.

For those preferring professional installation, Ryvid offers technician services for an additional fee. The company advises that DIY installation is not suitable for beginners due to its complexity.

Riding Experience and Reviews

Riders and media who have tested the Ryvid Anthem with the ASI Controller have praised its performance enhancements. The electric motorcycle has received positive reviews for its affordability and improved capabilities. The Anthem is priced at $6,495, while the new Outset model costs $5,995.

The Anthem is available in five colours for immediate delivery, whereas deliveries of the Outset will begin in Summer 2024 in Sector Red or Vapor Grey. Both models require a motorcycle license to ride.

Technical Specifications

The Anthem and Outset share several features: a rigid steel backbone frame, instrument display, removable 4.3kWh battery with integrated charger, 72V air-cooled brushless DC motor, controller, and sealed belt drive. Both bikes can reach speeds over 75mph and offer up to 75 miles of range under optimal conditions.

The battery charges quickly from both 110V and 220V power supplies. The Outset has a seat height of 33 inches but accommodates various riders due to its compliant suspension and narrow cushion. The Anthem’s seat adjusts from 31-34 inches for even more flexibility.

Design Features

Weighing just 313 lb (Anthem) and 315 lb (Outset), both models feature lightweight architecture with a low centre of gravity. Major components are positioned at axle level, enhancing handling characteristics for easy manoeuvrability at high or low speeds.

An additional benefit of electric power is the Ryvid Reverse Drive feature. At the push of a button when stopped, riders can move the motorcycle backwards at walking speed to navigate tight parking spots or slopes.

The quoted range was established using the Urban Dynamometer Driving Schedule but may vary based on factors like rider weight, cargo weight, speed, temperature, wind, tyre pressure, terrain, incline etc.
