Rolls-Royce Phantom Goldfinger Unveiled As Tribute To The Greatest Bald Bond Villain
British luxury car manufacturer Rolls-Royce has revealed the one-off Phantom Goldfinger. The Rolls-Royce Phantom Goldfinger celebrates sixty years of the 1964 movie Goldfinger, one of 12 James Bond movies which the firm's cars have appeared in.
Based on the Phantom Extended, the Phantom Goldfinger takes its design cues from the movie it is named after and the 1937 Rolls-Royce Phantom III Sedanca de Ville, the movie's big bad, Auric Goldfinger himself, smuggled gold around in.

The result is a one-off creation for a customer who must be a fan of the ultimate bald Bond baddie that took three years to dream up and execute. Rolls-Royce claims that the Phantom Goldfinger incorporates some of the most extensively engineered and hand-crafted Bespoke features with each one linking to the plot and iconography of the iconic 1964 movie.
These bespoke features include the unique 'long-side' two-tone yellow and black exterior paintwork. While not solid gold, the exterior yellow hue has been precisely colour-matched to that of Auric Goldfinger's 1937 Phantom III Sedanca de Ville.

Other exterior highlights of the Phantom Goldfinger include the 21-inch black disc wheels with floating hubcaps and a solid silver Spirit of Ecstacy plated with 18-carat gold to make it seem like it is made of Goldfinger's favourite metal.
The interior of the Rolls-Royce Goldfinger also features a few more subtle references to the 1964 movie with the hand-drawn 3d map of the Furkha Pass in Switzerland where Goldfinger was pursued by Bond in his iconic DB5. There is a "hidden vault" in the centre console between the front seats that houses an illuminated solid 18-carat gold bar, shaped as a Phantom 'Speedform' concept.

Other highlights include the Starlight headliner sporting the visible constellations present over the Furkha Pass on July 11, 1964, the last day of filming for the car chase scene in Switzerland. The walnut picnic tables at the rear feature a 0.1mm, 22-carat gold inlay of a fictional map of Fort Knox.
The glovebox's inner lid sports one of Auric Goldfinger's iconic quotes from the 1964 movie: "This is Gold, Mr. Bond. All my life, I have been in love with its colour, its brilliance, its divine heaviness." There is also a 24-carat gold-plated VIN plaque engraved with a specially obtained vehicle identification number ending in 007, while the air vents and speakers feature a lustrous gold finish as well. Finally, there is a gold putter attached to the bootlid of this bespoke Phantom.
