Rolls-Royce Hosts Welcoming Event For New Apprentices At Goodwood
Rolls-Royce Motor Cars recently hosted a special event at Goodwood, welcoming new Apprentices and their families. The gathering included contract signing, plant tours, and networking opportunities. This initiative aims to ease the transition for new Apprentices by familiarising them with the workplace before their official start date on 22 August 2024.
The Rolls-Royce Apprenticeship Programme has been running annually since 2006, growing from 11 participants to 32 this year. It is part of the broader Rolls-Royce Future Talent programme, which also includes paid internships and a graduate scheme. Applications for the 2025/26 intake will open in January 2025.

Mark Adams, Director of Human Resources at Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, stated, "Starting an Apprenticeship can be a daunting process. This event, which was inspired by feedback from current Apprentices, aims to make the transition easier for our new intake, by giving them a chance to familiarise themselves with the Home of Rolls-Royce at Goodwood and get to know us a little better before their official start date in August. We hope that signing their contracts and meeting managers in a less formal, social setting help take away some of the understandable nerves! We also feel it’s important to involve family members, as their support contributes to our Apprentices’ success in so many ways."
The event also provided an opportunity for family members to learn more about where their relatives will be working and the tasks they will undertake. This involvement is seen as crucial for the success of the Apprentices.
The new Apprentices underwent a rigorous selection process that included face-to-face interviews. They were matched to roles based on their learning styles and career aspirations. They will work in various areas such as assembly, craft, commercial, administrative, and non-production roles.
Educational Opportunities
Alongside practical training at Rolls-Royce, Apprentices will earn nationally recognised qualifications ranging from Level 2 (GCSE equivalent) to Level 6 (undergraduate). These qualifications are provided through local further and higher education institutions.
The event was inspired by feedback from current Apprentices who found such gatherings helpful for easing into their new roles. It allowed new recruits to meet managers and understand what to expect during their time at Rolls-Royce.
