Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion Recognised As Finalist For Motorsport Event Of The Year By International Historic Motoring Awards
The Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion has been recognised as a finalist for the Motorsport Event of the Year by the International Historic Motoring Awards, presented by Lockton. This year, the event celebrated 50 years of historic racing at Laguna Seca. The awards ceremony will take place on November 22 at the Peninsula Hotel in London, where finalists will gather to honour excellence in classic and collector car events.
John Narigi, president and general manager of WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, expressed his gratitude for this recognition. "This is a monumental honor for the many participants who bring their historic cars to race, our sponsors who annually support the event, and our many volunteers, Advisory Council members and the WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca team who pour their passion into ensuring the event’s success," he said.

The Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion was previously awarded in 2022 for its celebration of the centenary of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. This year's event marked a significant transition as it became officially managed by Friends of Laguna Seca, a non-profit organisation dedicated to elevating this iconic circuit's status. The event's history traces back to 1974 when it began with just 66 cars as a one-day race complementing the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.
Founded by Steven Earle, these races set a benchmark for future historic racing events. In 2010, it was rebranded under new ownership as the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion. Today, it accepts around 400 entries while maintaining strict standards for authenticity and historical accuracy in car preparation and driving.
A highlight of this year's reunion was an extraordinary display featuring 29 race cars from various marques over five decades. This unique collection drew large crowds of enthusiasts, families, and journalists eager to witness these historical vehicles up close. Such gatherings offer a rare glimpse into automotive history that may not be replicated again.
