Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion Celebrates Half A Century With Memorable Group Photo
The Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion celebrated its 50th anniversary with a remarkable group photo, showcasing five decades of historic racing in Monterey. This annual photo, which began in 1974, features the finest cars that have graced the track over the years. Following the photo session, these vehicles were displayed in the 50th Anniversary Exhibition, presented by Motul and Cars and Cosdel, offering a unique paddock experience.
This year's exhibition included an impressive range of cars, from the 1927 Bentley Type 35 to the 2023 NASCAR Next Gen Garage 56 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1. These vehicles represent marques honoured at past events and continue to captivate fans during Monterey Car Week. "Assembling the cars and moving them into position takes planning and patience. But the result makes for a spectacular snapshot of history," said Barry Toepke, director of heritage events at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca.
WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca is renowned for its challenging turns and elevation changes, including the famous Corkscrew. Located in Monterey, California, this motorsport facility has hosted premier racing events for decades. It remains a favourite destination for motorsport enthusiasts worldwide.
The assembled cars for this year's photo included notable models such as the 1999 BMW V12 LMR, 2023 Chevrolet Camaro, 1990 Mercedes-Benz C11, and many more. Each car holds a significant place in racing history and has contributed to the event's legacy.
Barry Toepke expressed gratitude towards Tim Hill, the lead photographer responsible for positioning each historic car perfectly for the group photo. "We all appreciate the time and efforts of our lead photographer Tim Hill in positioning each historic car," he stated.
