MotorTrend Presents Roadkill Nights Powered by Dodge returned for its ninth year, drawing over 40,000 drag-racing fans to M1 Concourse in Pontiac, Michigan, on August 10, 2024. The event featured thrilling attractions like Big Tire and Small Tire drag racing, the Direct Connection Grudge Race, and the debut of the new Dodge Charger Daytona.

This year's event introduced several firsts. Drag racing took place inside M1 Concourse for the first time, offering walkable pits and enhanced viewing areas. The Sick Powerfest pre-party kicked off the festivities on August 9, also at M1 Concourse. Fans enjoyed Dodge Drift Rides and Hornet Rally Rides and competed in the World Burnout Championship with a $25,000 prize. This pre-party attracted over 10,000 attendees, pushing total attendance for the two-day event to more than 50,000.

The Big Tire and Small Tire classes saw fierce competition on the new drag strip at M1 Concourse. Each class winner received $5,000, with additional prizes for the fastest Dodge cars. Jimmer Kline and Mikael Borggren were repeat winners in their respective classes.

Brian Lohnes, Roadkill Nights announcer and NHRA broadcaster, praised the new setup. "It was a huge win for the event to come inside M1 Concourse with a stadium feel," he said. "The winners were repeat winners for the most part but also highly talented drag racers."

Direct Connection Grudge Race

The Direct Connection Grudge Race was another highlight of Roadkill Nights. Seven drivers used Direct Connection HurriCrate engines in their builds to compete for Dodge bragging rights. Morgan Evans emerged victorious against Garrett Reed's Dodge Challenger SRT Demon.

"We worked so hard over the last two months," Evans said. "I can’t believe we got here and we ended up winning." Evans built a 1987 Dodge D150 with a new HurriCrate twin-turbo inline six engine.
