Revive By Vaughtons Launches Bespoke Restoration Service For Car Badges And Insignia

Vaughtons, a renowned Birmingham-based maker of medals and insignia, has introduced a new service called 'Revive by Vaughtons'. This service is tailored to restore car badges and insignia to their original state. Known for crafting the iconic 'wings' badges for Aston Martin, Vaughtons also creates badges for McLaren, Bentley, and Gordon Murray. The service will be showcased at the Bicester Sunday Scramble on October 6th.

Vaughtons has a rich history in creating notable items like the 1908 London Olympic medals and the FA Cup. They have also made Premier League medals and door plaques for the Titanic. During the pandemic, they produced 'Thank you' pin-badges to support the NHS. Recently, they offered free refurbishment services for British Olympic medal winners from Paris 2024.

The restoration process by Revive involves taking damaged badges back to their base material. This stabilises the structure before rebuilding enamel and inserts to restore them to their original form. Each badge is individually assessed, allowing owners to either return to the original design or choose different enamel colours.

Nick Hobbis, Managing Director of Vaughtons, stated: "Vaughtons has a long history of supplying badges and insignia to the world’s most prestigious car companies. Revive by Vaughtons is a natural extension of that extensive heritage and experience and we look forward to helping owners bring their badges and insignia back to former glory."

Established in 1819 by Philip Vaughton, the company has been a leader in bespoke manufacturing. Initially named ‘P. Vaughton’, it operated from Little Hampton Street in Birmingham's Jewellery Quarter. By 1897, it was renamed ‘Vaughton Brothers’ and moved to Constitution Hill as a buttonmaker, medalist, and mint.

The company later relocated in 1903 to its current location on Livery Street in Birmingham's Jewellery Quarter. This site is known as ‘Vaughtons Gothic Works’. Today, they continue offering services like automotive electroplating, engraving, refurbishment, repairs, and replicas.

Commitment to Excellence

Vaughtons' commitment extends beyond automotive insignia; they supply Royal Households globally. Their dedication was evident during the pandemic when they supported NHS efforts with pin-badges. Nick Hobbis expressed pride in supporting Olympic athletes with medal care: "We are so proud of our Olympic and Paralympic athletes," he said.
