Renault UK's research reveals that wrong directions and poor driving are the main causes of in-car arguments, or "car-guments." Men are more likely to argue over perceived bad driving, while women often blame poor navigation. The study found that men tend to believe they are better drivers and navigators than their partners.
The survey highlighted that 21% of Brits argue most about taking the wrong direction, followed by 20% who cite driving style as a major issue. Interestingly, 23% of women are irritated by poor navigation compared to 19% of men. Conversely, 20% of men are annoyed by bad driving skills compared to 19% of women.
Comfortable seats, an excellent sound system, and ample space were identified as top features for maintaining harmony during long journeys. Specifically, 42% valued comfortable seating, while 26% appreciated a great sound system and spacious interiors.
Renault claims its Scenic E-Tech 100% Electric can end these car-guments. The car boasts features like a massaging driver’s seat, Google Built-In sat-nav, and a spacious design with a 545-litre boot. These elements aim to reduce common triggers for in-car disputes.
The Renault Scenic also includes an ingenious armrest that holds and charges devices, ensuring children remain entertained. Additionally, the car offers up to six USB ports and a Harman Kardon sound system with nine high-performance speakers.

Renault's research underscores the importance of environmental concerns in maintaining a balanced mood during travel. A significant 49% of respondents said that a car’s sustainable credentials are crucial for them.

To back its claims, Renault offers Relationship Breakdown Cover for retail cash buyers of the Scenic until the end of 2024.
