Renault Group Achieves Notable Sales Growth In First Half Of 2024
Renault, the leading French car brand, saw a 2.0% rise in sales during the first half of 2024, totalling 787,223 vehicles. This growth was mainly driven by an 8.2% increase in European sales, where Renault sold 535,238 vehicles. The brand outperformed the market, which grew by 5.5%, solidifying its position as Europe's third-ranking PC+LCV brand.
In Spain, Italy, and the United Kingdom, Renault's sales surged by 12.7%, 18.4%, and 32.7%, respectively. In France, Renault maintained its leadership with 214,881 vehicles sold, marking an 8% increase. Nearly one in five cars sold in France is a Renault. Outside Europe, the brand also made strides in Turkey (10.8%), Brazil (5.3%), and Morocco (1.5%).

The "International Game Plan 2027" has been rolled out successfully this year. Renault is reintroducing itself in South Korea with Grand Koleos and has seen a positive start for Kardian in Brazil with over 5,200 registrations. This model has also been well-received in Mexico and will launch in Morocco later this year.
Renault's strategy focuses on retail customers in Europe, where one in every two sales is to this high-value market segment. Clio and Captur are among the top ten in retail sales rankings. Efforts to reconquer the C segment and above have shown results with a 10% increase in C-SUV and D-SUV sales.
The Austral and Espace E-Tech full hybrid models are particularly popular, with high-trim versions making up most of their sales: 55% for Austral and 72% for Espace E-Tech full hybrid.
Electrification Strategy
Renault continues its electrification push with nearly half of its vehicles being electrified. The brand is Europe's second-largest for hybrids, which make up more than one-third of its sales—a significant increase of almost 45% compared to H1 2023.
Clio, Austral, and Captur are among the top ten best-selling hybrids. All-electric vehicles account for nearly 12% of Renault's sales and are expected to grow further with new models like Scenic E-Tech electric and Renault 5 E-Tech electric.
Dacia's Continued Progress
Dacia reported a 3.8% rise in sales during the first half of the year with 358,497 registrations. In Europe alone, Dacia sold 309,816 vehicles—a 4% increase—maintaining its position as ninth in the PC market and within the top ten for PC+LCV sales.
The brand's strong new identity has helped it consolidate its position on the European retail sales podium with high conquest and loyalty rates.
Alpine's Record Growth
Alpine achieved a new record with 2,720 registrations—a remarkable increase of 47.2%. This growth was particularly strong in France (58.9%), Germany (45.9%), the UK (27.2%), and Belgium (29.5%).
In June, Alpine began its electric offensive by presenting A290 at Le Mans' event—a sporty electric five-seater hot hatch—with orders opening this summer.
Market Launches for Renault Brand
This year is significant for Renault with seven new vehicle launches planned for commercial release throughout Europe including Symbioz, Master, and Renault 5 E-Tech electric models.
Internationally too there will be launches such as Renault Duster & Grand Koleos while Kardian will debut across new markets enhancing global presence further under "International Game Plan".
LCV Market Leadership
The brand strengthened its leadership position within LCV markets selling171k units reflecting19% growth compared against H1 last year driven largely through flagship models Kangoo Express (+30%) Master (+16%) all leading respective segments alongside Trafic now third best-seller within own category (+22%).
