Ram 1500 Ramcharger Launches Ahead Of REV To Drive Electrification Strategy

Stellantis has decided to prioritise the launch of its range-extended Ram 1500 Ramcharger over the Ram 1500 REV, its first battery-electric light-duty pickup. Initially, the Ram 1500 REV was set for release in early 2025. However, due to strong consumer interest and a competitive edge in technology, Stellantis will now introduce the Ramcharger first.

The new Ram 1500 Ramcharger boasts an impressive targeted range of up to 690 miles. It features a 92 kWh battery pack and a 130 kW generator. This setup powers front and rear electric drive modules with outputs of 250 kW and 238 kW, respectively. The vehicle also supports bi-directional charging, allowing it to charge other Stellantis electric vehicles or supply power back to the grid.

Performance-wise, the Ramcharger is expected to accelerate from 0-60 mph in just 4.4 seconds. It delivers 663 horsepower and over 615 lb.-ft. of torque. Additionally, it offers best-in-class towing capacity of up to 14,000 pounds with a class 5 hitch and a maximum payload capacity of 2,625 pounds.

The Sterling Heights Assembly Plant in Michigan will remain central to producing both electrified and internal combustion engine versions of the Ram 1500. This facility plays a crucial role in bringing advanced technology vehicles to market. Consumer orders for the Ramcharger will open in early 2025, with the Ram 1500 REV following in 2026.

Since its establishment as an independent division in 2009, the Ram brand has focused on meeting truck buyers' needs by delivering high-quality vehicles. The lineup includes models like the Ram 1500, Heavy Duty variants (2500/3500), Chassis Cab (3500/4500/5500), and ProMaster vans.

Ram Brand Achievements

Ram trucks consistently outperform competitors by setting benchmarks in key areas important to truck buyers. Notable achievements include segment-first torque of 1,000 lb.-ft with Cummins Turbo Diesel engines and offering luxurious features like air suspension and massage seats in models such as the Ram 1500 Tungsten.

The brand also excels in ride quality with double wishbone front suspension and five-link solid rear axle systems featuring active-level air suspension. Furthermore, it provides best-in-class rear legroom and cargo space among traditional full-size cargo vans.

The Ram Power Wagon stands out as the most capable full-size off-road pickup available. Additionally, the brand holds the title for being America's most awarded light-duty truck while maintaining high owner loyalty among half-ton pickups.

The decision to launch the Ramcharger ahead of schedule highlights Stellantis' commitment to innovation and customer satisfaction within the competitive automotive market.
