RADwood UK 2024 Brings The Best Of 80s And 90s Car Culture To Life

The ultimate retro motoring show, RADwood UK 2024, will feature some of the most iconic cars from Max Power magazine. On Saturday, 7th September, the Chatham Historic Dockyard will host members of the Max Power Reunion alongside automotive legends from the 80s and 90s. The event celebrates the flamboyant culture of that era.

Expect to see wild body kits, cool paint jobs, and pumping sounds from the Max Power generation. Cars like a pink Peugeot 206 and the Volkswagen ‘Pringles Golf’ with Lambo-style scissor doors will be on display. Retro BTCC Renault Laguna and other creative rides that dominated supermarket car park meets will also be featured.

Some of the most iconic supercars of the time will be showcased, including Athena poster favourites like the Ferrari F40 LM, Honda NSX, Lamborghini Countach, and Porsche 959. These cars were dream rides for many during the 80s and 90s.

The event encourages everyone to embrace the spirit of these exuberant decades. Attendees are invited to wear old shell-suits, flecked trousers, and big shoulder pads. Bring along a Sony Walkman or Motorola flip-phone to fully immerse in the incredible vibe of the era.

This year marks 40 years since Crockett and Tubbs raced onto TV screens in Miami Vice. Whether it was their snazzy clothes or the famous white Ferrari Testarossa that caught your eye, RADwood UK 2024 offers a chance to showcase your Miami style.

Prizes are available in various categories for those who arrive in era-appropriate cars like a 1980s Fiesta XR2 or go full Magnum P.I. in a Ferrari 308. There’s also a Show’n’Shine competition and an award for the best-dressed guest.

Retro Arcade Games

No 80s and 90s extravaganza would be complete without arcade games. The video game arcade will feature classics like Outrun, Sega Rally, and Streetfighter. All games are set to free-play so visitors can compete for top spots on the leaderboard.

If you need retro attire, Rokit Vintage village in the main boathouse offers all the clobber you loved back then. The record fair is another highlight where you can find elusive cassettes, vinyl records, or MiniDisc albums from those years.

Ticket Information

General admission tickets cost £25 per car or £15 for a motorcycle, which includes entry to the display area if you’re driving something RAD. For £35 you can enter your car in the Show ’n’ Shine competition; however, slots are limited so act fast.

The event also features RAD arcade games such as Outrun and Sega Rally available for free play. Tickets start at £25 per car and are available now.

This celebration is not just about cars but also about reliving memories from an unforgettable era. Whether you're an enthusiast or just looking to experience something unique, RADwood UK 2024 promises an exciting day out.
