Porsche Taycan Turbo GT Secures Road & Track’s Performance EV Of The Year Award For Second Time
The Porsche Taycan Turbo GT has secured the title of Road & Track’s Performance EV of the Year in the over $100,000 category. This achievement marks a consecutive win for the Taycan series, following last year's victory by the Turbo S variant. The Taycan Turbo GT impressed judges with its blend of everyday practicality and exceptional power.
Daniel Pund, editor-in-chief at Road & Track, commented on the vehicle's performance: "The Taycan Turbo GT was truly impressive and has taken a significant step on from its Taycan Turbo S brother, which won the award last year. What really caught our attention is that this is a practical sedan that could be used every day, but also happens to be the company’s most powerful road car ever."

Timo Resch, President and CEO of Porsche Cars North America, expressed gratitude for the recognition: "We never take wins for granted, and we’re grateful to receive this award – in what is a really competitive category – from the experts at Road & Track. This independent assessment means a lot to us and is testament to the great work and care that went into developing this exciting new variant of the Taycan."
The Taycan Turbo GT represents Porsche's pinnacle in production car performance. It boasts up to 1,019 horsepower and can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 2.1 seconds with the Weissach Package. This model sits at the top of Porsche's range, showcasing their commitment to innovation and speed.
To qualify for this accolade, vehicles needed substantial evolution from their 2023 versions but didn't have to be entirely new models. They had to be available in the U.S. by late 2024 and focus on driving pleasure. The sole judging criterion was driver engagement.
Testing occurred over four days on New York state roads and at Harpersfield's New York Safety Track. During track testing, the Taycan Turbo GT outperformed its closest rival by about two seconds per lap.
Enhanced Features of Taycan Turbo GT
The Porsche Taycan first launched in 2019 but underwent significant updates for its 2025 model year. These enhancements included better performance metrics, an extended range, faster charging capabilities, and more standard features.
This latest version underscores Porsche's dedication to pushing boundaries in electric vehicle technology while maintaining their hallmark driving experience.
