Polestar Unveils Plug & Charge Feature For Polestar 3 Customers To Simplify Public Charging

Polestar has simplified public charging for its flagship SUV, the Polestar 3, by introducing Plug & Charge technology. This feature allows the vehicle to act as a digital wallet, automatically authenticating and communicating with compatible public chargers. Customers can now plug in their Polestar 3 at over 9,500 High Power Charging points, including selected Ionity and Mer locations, without needing to manually set up a charging session.

With Plug & Charge activated, drivers no longer need to choose the correct charging location or confirm their connection. The car handles communication with the charger and processes payment directly. Lutz Stiegler, CTO of Polestar, stated, "With Plug & Charge we offer a premium service to Polestar 3 customers that makes charging their car on the road as easy and hassle-free as possible. This advanced technology will make a real difference to customers’ day to day life, and we’re excited to bring it to Polestar 3 first with other models in our range to follow soon after."

The Polestar Charge App complements this new feature by offering access to over 800,000 public charging points across Europe. It also provides subscription-based fast charging with discounted rates at numerous locations. This ensures that Plug & Charge is not only more convenient but also cost-effective for users.

To use this function, drivers should activate it in the vehicle’s settings and connect it with the Polestar Charge App or another E-mobility Service Provider. This integration simplifies the process significantly compared to traditional methods.

Currently available in the Polestar 3, this functionality is expected to be extended to other models in 2025. At stations not compatible with Plug & Charge, drivers can still use the Polestar Charge App or card for initiating sessions.
