Polestar 2 Honoured With Prestigious Award For Advancing Sustainable Mobility

Polestar has announced that its Polestar 2 model has won the Wallpaper* Smart Space Award for 'Best Sustainable Step Forward for Mobility'. This award highlights Polestar's dedication to design, innovation, and sustainability in the automotive industry. The Polestar 2 was evaluated based on its innovation, design, impact, scalability, feasibility, and measurable outcomes.

The car was particularly noted for Polestar’s efforts in creating transparency around decarbonising supply chains and manufacturing processes. This recognition underscores Polestar's commitment to addressing broader sustainability challenges in the automotive sector. Their Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) reports have set a new standard by being transparent about the carbon impact of their cars.

Polestar 2 Wins Sustainability Award

Fredrika Klarén, Head of Sustainability at Polestar, expressed her pride in receiving this honour. "Being recognised by Wallpaper* Magazine for our advancements within sustainability is a tremendous honour," she said. "Since launch in 2020, the cradle-to-gate carbon footprint of Polestar 2 has been reduced by three tonnes in three years and this award reflects our progress, inspiring us to continue pushing the boundaries of what is possible in the automotive industry."

Polestar's transparency has led to a significant reduction in carbon emissions. Over the past three years, they have achieved a three-tonne CO2e saving during the production phase of Polestar 2. This achievement allows customers to make informed choices and drives continuous improvement within the company.

Klarén also highlighted their focus on transparency: "We are especially proud of our focus on our transparency, demonstrating that it is possible to create beautiful, high-performance vehicles while also making significant strides toward sustainability."

Polestar's Future Plans

Polestar aims to expand its line-up with five performance electric vehicles (EVs) by 2026. The brand launched Polestar 3, an SUV for the electric age, in late 2022 and plans to introduce Polestar 4 through phases into 2024. Upcoming models include Polestar 5 and Polestar 6.

The company’s ambitious goal is embodied in the Polestar 0 project which aims to produce a climate-neutral car by 2030. This initiative challenges employees, suppliers, and the wider automotive industry to act urgently on climate issues.
