Petersen Automotive Museum To Celebrate LA Car Culture With Lowrider Parade And Show

The Petersen Automotive Museum will celebrate its 30th anniversary with a lowrider parade and car show on September 15. This event, coinciding with Mexican Independence Day weekend, will feature a parade of iconic lowrider vehicles around the Miracle Mile. The parade will conclude with a car show at the museum, including Folklorico dancers and carnival-style activities for families.

Youth under 17 can enjoy free admission to both the museum and the event on September 15. Showcar tickets are priced at $25, which includes participation in the parade reception, light refreshments, general museum admission, and parking. Spectators can attend for free, gaining access to the show and parking while supplies last.

Lowrider Parade & Show at Petersen Museum

The parade is set to depart from the museum at 10 a.m. on Sunday, September 15. The event is sponsored by PPG, OPTIMA, Calidad, and Guerrero. It promises a vibrant celebration of LA car culture with curated lowriders expected to participate. The festivities will also feature an all-female panel discussion at noon.

The panel will include Dr. Denise Sandoval from California State University Northridge, Tina L. Blankenship-Early of Lowrider Magazine’s hall of fame, Sandy Avila from Lady Lowrider Car Club, Lorraine Quiñones, and Cynthia Martinez. This discussion aims to highlight significant contributions by women in the lowrider community.

Following the parade, an awards ceremony for Best in Show will be hosted by event sponsor PPG. This special occasion offers a unique opportunity for attendees to immerse themselves in LA's rich automotive culture while enjoying various family-friendly activities.

The Petersen Automotive Museum is located at 6060 Wilshire Blvd., Los Angeles. General admission prices are $21 for adults, $19 for seniors (62+), $13 for youth (12-17), and $12 for children aged 4 to 11. Active military personnel with ID, personal care attendants, and children under four years old receive free admission.
