Parkopedia And Irdeto Announce Plug And Charge Partnership To Streamline Global EV Charging
Parkopedia and Irdeto have announced a collaboration to introduce a new multi-contract Plug and Charge solution, aimed at simplifying the electric vehicle (EV) charging process. This partnership combines Parkopedia’s in-car parking and EV charging services with Irdeto’s CrossCharge technologies, offering a seamless experience for drivers and original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).
The new solution allows EV drivers to locate, pay for parking, and charge their vehicles directly from their in-car media systems. This eliminates the need for multiple apps or RFID cards. Leveraging Irdeto’s Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) expertise, the solution enhances security while providing flexibility and compatibility in EV charging.
Based on ISO 15118 standards, the advanced security solution protects against potential cyber threats, ensuring a secure and reliable charging process. The Plug and Charge solution also extends the utility of legacy vehicles by making them compatible with multiple contracts, enabling drivers to access public chargers and benefit from the cheapest available tariffs.
This compatibility ensures that older EV models can also take advantage of modern charging infrastructure's flexibility and security. Additionally, the new solution simplifies compliance with ISO 15118 for vehicle manufacturers, reducing the development burden on OEMs and accelerating the adoption of EVs through improved secure and user-friendly charging solutions.
