OX Delivers Achieves Record Revenue In Q1 2024 With Electric Vehicle Expansion In Rwanda

In a significant stride towards sustainable transportation within the Global South, OX Delivers, an e-mobility start-up, has announced its most successful first-quarter financial performance since its inception. The company reported a revenue of $262,000 in the initial three months of 2024, marking a notable milestone in its journey. This period also saw the expansion of its electric vehicle operations in Rwanda, where it completed 258 journeys without tail-pipe emissions, covering over 18,000km and serving more than 4,000 customers.

OX Delivers operates on a transport-as-a-service business model, which has evidently resonated with its clientele, evidenced by an 80% repeat customer rate. This model not only facilitates entrepreneurs in reaching new markets but also significantly reduces the cost and time of transporting goods to market. In Rwanda, for instance, customers can transport goods for less than $1 and in a fraction of the time it would take by foot or bicycle.

Record Q1 Revenue for OX Delivers

The company is at the forefront of developing the next-generation electric truck, tailored for the rugged conditions of the Global South. This new model promises an improved driving position, enhanced visibility, and significant chassis improvements informed by driver feedback from Rwanda. Notably, these trucks are projected to be 10 times cheaper to operate than current alternatives available in the market.

With plans to broaden its transport-as-a-service offerings across the Global South starting in Africa, OX Delivers is poised to introduce its next-generation truck later this year. This move aims to address the transportation needs of three billion people in developing countries who currently lack access to affordable and sustainable transport solutions.

Customer testimonials underscore the transformative impact of OX Delivers' services. Jean-Paul, a chilli pepper farmer, shared how transitioning from traditional modes of transport to OX Delivers enabled him to increase his delivery frequency and volume significantly. This change has not only enhanced his business's credibility and trust with buyers but also marked positive financial growth.

The company's innovative approach has not gone unnoticed, generating $800,000 in revenue in 2023 alone. Support from angel investors and grants from organizations such as the Advanced Propulsion Centre, Innovate UK, and USAID have further bolstered OX Delivers' mission. With the upcoming launch of its next-generation electric truck, OX Delivers is set to continue its trajectory of expansion and impact across the Global South.
