Osprey Charging Sets To Establish Largest EV Hub In Paisley, Glasgow
Osprey Charging has acquired its second freehold site, set to become the largest charging location in Scotland. Planning approval for a 300kW ultra-rapid charging hub has been secured, with construction slated to begin in the summer. The site is expected to open to the public at the start of 2025.
The 16-charger hub will be located opposite Phoenix Retail Park on the A737, minutes from the M8 and Glasgow Airport. This acquisition is part of Osprey's mission to deliver high-quality, reliable, and easy-to-use public EV charging across the UK. Further acquisition announcements are anticipated in the coming weeks.

In 2024, Osprey Charging installed over 200 rapid and ultra-rapid charge points, making it one of the UK’s largest and fastest-growing networks. The new Paisley hub will be a significant addition to this expanding network.
The Paisley hub will be situated just off the A737, a short drive from Scotland’s busiest motorway, the M8. This location is strategic for Scotland’s drivers, offering rapid and reliable EV charging. The site is adjacent to Showcase Cinema and north of McDonald’s drive-thru, providing numerous amenities for drivers while they recharge their vehicles.
This marks Osprey Charging's second freehold site purchase, following the Salmon’s Leap hub in Devon, which opened last year. Owning the land offers greater flexibility in design, ensuring alignment with Osprey's values of simplicity, convenience, safety, and accessibility.
CEO's Vision
Ian Johnston, CEO of Osprey Charging, stated: "We’re hugely excited to have completed the purchase of the land for our forthcoming 16-charger ultra-rapid hub in Paisley. This purchase is crucial in supporting the uptake of EVs in Scotland and meeting growing demand for reliable, accessible, and high-quality EV charging across the UK."
In 2024, Osprey delivered nine high-powered hubs across various UK locations. The new Paisley hub will be another milestone in their rapidly expanding network. The goal is to complete 30 hubs by year-end, significantly advancing public EV charging infrastructure.
Network Growth and Reliability
Osprey Charging’s network now includes over 1,000 rapid and ultra-rapid chargers in key urban and rural locations across the UK. The chargers boast a reliability rate of 99%, and their straightforward charging experience has earned Osprey recognition as a ‘Driver Recommended Network’ by Zap Map for a fourth time.
The company continues to fund, install, and manage its network on behalf of landlord partners. All Osprey chargers accept contactless payments, App payments, RFID payments, and major third-party payment methods including fleet cards. Every charging point is powered by 100% renewable electricity.
Awards and Recognition
Osprey Charging has been voted one of the Top 3 Charging Networks in Zapmap’s annual rankings. It has also been awarded ‘EV Driver Recommended Network’ status for four consecutive years. At the 2023 Transport and Energy awards, Osprey was named Best EV Charging Network. This was followed by multiple wins at the Electric Vehicle Innovation and Excellence Awards (EVIEs), including Chargepoint Network of the Year and Private Sector Infrastructure Strategy of the Year.
