Maruti Suzuki Has Decided To Sell Old Dzire Alongside The New 4th Gen Dzire, But With A Twist!

Maruti Suzuki is set to launch the fourth-generation Dzire this month, but the third-generation model will continue to be sold alongside it. The Dzire Tour S, which is popular in fleet and taxi markets, will remain based on the third-gen version. This strategy allows Maruti to cater to both private buyers with the new model and fleet buyers with the existing one.

Fleet Market Focus

The Dzire Tour S holds a significant share of Dzire's overall sales. Partho Banerjee, head of sales and marketing at Maruti Suzuki, mentioned that the current model will persist as the Tour version due to its substantial sales figures. "The new Dzire will not completely replace the current model. This [current-gen] one will carry on as the Tour version only, as we have significant sales of both versions," he stated.

Sales Performance

Last year, out of 1.6 lakh Dzires sold, about 60,000 were from the Tour variant. This translates to an average of 5,000 units monthly for the Tour S alone. Such numbers justify keeping both versions in production for some time. The Dzire Tour S competes well against rivals like Tigor and Aura in terms of fleet sales.

Rival Comparisons

In comparison, Tata's Tigor averages around 1,300 units monthly, while Honda's Amaze sells approximately 2,300 units. Hyundai's Aura sees about 4,500 units sold each month. These figures highlight the strong position of the Dzire Tour S in the fleet market.

The fourth-generation Dzire Tour is expected to join Maruti's lineup later in its lifecycle. This approach ensures that Maruti continues to meet diverse customer needs across different segments without disrupting its successful fleet operations.

Maruti Suzuki's decision reflects a strategic balance between innovation and maintaining a stronghold in established markets. By offering both new and existing models simultaneously, they cater effectively to varied customer demands while sustaining their market presence.
