Nissan X-Trail SUV Unveiled In India – Just One Powertrain Option

Nissan India has unveiled the upcoming Nissan X-Trail SUV ahead of its launch in the country. Unlike the Nissan Magnite, the upcoming Nissan X-Trail SUV will not be manufactured in India but it will be a fully imported model.

Looking into the details, the upcoming Nissan X-Trail is in its fourth generation and it is based on the CMF-C platform. Also, this iteration of the X-Trail SUV has been available in international markets since 2021, and it is available in both 5-seater and 7-seater variants.

However, for the Indian market, Nissan will launch the X-Trail SUV with 3 rows of seating (7-seater), which will make the model a lot more appealing to its target customer base.

In terms of design, the Nissan X-Trail looks purposeful with its upright stance, however, the design is not boring as designers at Nissan have added neat elements such as split headlamps, door-mounted ORVMs, and wraparound taillights.

In addition to this, the Nissan X-Trail SUV looks somewhat rugged with its 360-degree plastic cladding, and tall 210mm ground clearance. It also looks quite premium with its large 20-inch wheels wrapped in 255/45 tyres.

Size-wise, the Nissan X-Trail measures 4,680mm long, 1,840mm wide, 1,725mm tall, and sports a 2,705mm long wheelbase. Despite its large size, the Nissan X-Trail has a short 5.5m turning radius.

On the inside, the Nissan X-Trail SUV comes very well equipped with features such as a dual-pane panoramic sunroof, a 12.3-inch infotainment unit, a similar-sized instrument cluster, a wireless charging pad, 40/20/40 split folding middle seat, 50/50 folding 3rd-row seat, and more.

In terms of safety, the Nissan X-Trail SUV comes equipped with safety systems such as 7 airbags, ABS, EBD, hill start assist, a 360-degree camera system, front and rear parking sensors, auto wipers and much more.

Nissan X-Trail Rear

The powertrain system will be a surprise to many as the premium SUV comes equipped with a small 1.5-litre, 3-cylinder, turbocharged unit. However, this unit comes paired with a 12V mild-hybrid system to produce a total of 163hp and 300Nm of torque.

There is no manual transmission on the upcoming Nissan X-Trail SUV and the model features a shift-by-wire CVT gearbox. This gearbox is said to have a very minimal rubberband effect.

Since the upcoming Nissan X-Trail will be brought to India via the CBU-route, we expect the model to carry a price tag of around Rs 40 lakh. This will put the model in the firing range of SUVs such as Skoda Kodiaq, Toyota Fortuner, Toyota Legender, MG Gloster, and Jeep Meridian.
