Nissan Project Trailgater Combines Tailgating And Outdoor Adventures For Sports Fans
The Nissan Project Trailgater offers a unique blend of outdoor adventure and sports viewing. This concept vehicle is based on the refreshed 2025 Nissan Frontier, designed to enhance tailgating experiences. It will be showcased at the 2024 SEMA show in Las Vegas from November 5-8, alongside other Nissan projects yet to be revealed.
Collaborating with PowerNation TV's "Music City Trucks," the Project Trailgater's creation will be featured in three episodes airing on October 14, 21, and 28. Eric Smart, co-host of Music City Trucks, stated, "Tailgating has been a staple in the sports community for generations." He added that combining this tradition with outdoor enthusiasts' passion and Nissan's off-road legacy creates a unique concept.
The Project Trailgater is equipped with twin 43-inch TVs and a soundbar mounted on a NISMO Off Road overlanding rack. This setup allows fans to enjoy games outdoors during football season. A folding solar panel, custom lithium battery pack, and Starlink connection enable streaming almost anywhere.
To complement the viewing experience, the vehicle includes an integrated Dometic cooler and refrigerator, fold-out kitchen station, sink, and built-in propane grill. These features are accessible through CargoGlide slide-outs with a custom-fabricated hinged mount and fire pit.
The Project Trailgater builds on the Frontier's off-road prowess with NISMO Off Road accessories like a suspension lift kit, forged upper control arms, high-performance rear shocks, and front coilovers. The package also includes 17-inch Axis beadlock wheels with Yokohama GEOLANDAR M/T tires and additional lighting options.
The foundation of this project is the 2025 Nissan Frontier PRO-4X. For this model year, enhancements include a new front fascia and wheels for PRO-X/PRO-4X grades. The long-wheelbase bed configuration is more widely available on PRO-4X and SL grades.
Technological Advancements
The 2025 Frontier introduces a standard telescopic-adjusting steering wheel across all grades. Higher SV grades feature a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Tow ratings have increased across all models, reaching up to 7,150 pounds.
The PRO-4X grade used for Project Trailgater offers all-terrain tires, a locking rear differential, Bilstein off-road suspension components, and rugged styling elements like over fenders and Lava Red tow hooks.
This innovative concept vehicle showcases how Nissan combines technology with outdoor adventure to create memorable experiences for sports fans who love nature.
