Nissan Magnite Vs Renault Kiger: A Comprehensive Comparison
The Nissan Magnite and Renault Kiger are two compact SUVs that share a common platform but offer distinct experiences. Both vehicles were introduced consecutively to compete in the sub-4 metre SUV segment. Recently, the Magnite received a significant mid-life update. Let's explore how these two models compare terms of design, features, and performance.
Exterior
The Magnite's exterior has undergone subtle changes with a refreshed grille, bumpers, and skid plate, maintaining its familiar silhouette. Meanwhile, the Kiger continues to sport its modern design, characterised by French flair.

Although it's been three years since its launch, the Kiger still looks contemporary. An update is anticipated for the Kiger within the next year, likely incorporating similar design tweaks as seen on the Magnite.
Interior
Inside the Magnite, the cabin remains largely unchanged but benefits from new upholstery and enhanced soft-touch materials. The instrument cluster graphics have also been updated. In contrast, the Kiger features an all-black interior with orange accents on the upholstery. Renault is expected to adopt similar updates in terms of materials and instrument cluster design while retaining its unique styling to differentiate it from the Magnite.
Features
The feature set of both models is evolving too. The latest updates for the Magnite include remote keyless start, USB-C charging ports, six airbags, ESC, and an auto-dimming IRVM. These enhancements are expected to be mirrored in the Kiger's upcoming update. Additionally, a sunroof could be introduced to elevate its appeal further.
Engine Options
Both SUVs offer two 1.0-litre petrol engine options. The naturally aspirated version produces 71bhp/96Nm and is available with either a five-speed manual or AMT gearbox. The turbocharged variant delivers 99bhp/152Nm with a CVT or 160Nm with a six-speed manual transmission. Notably, last year saw the introduction of an AMT option for the Magnite's naturally aspirated engine.
Pricing Comparison
The pricing for these compact SUVs varies slightly: The Nissan Magnite ranges from Rs. 6 lakh to Rs. 11.66 lakh (ex-showroom), whereas the Renault Kiger is priced between Rs. 6 lakh and Rs. 11.23 lakh (ex-showroom). With competitive pricing and unique features offered by each model, potential buyers have compelling choices depending on their preferences.
